Don Kengla- Friend, Prankster, Aviator, Conservationist -“A Character We Will Miss”This year the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter lost one of its unique members when Don Kengla died on August 19, 2007. Don was only 61 years old and had been a very active member since 2003. Don served the chapter as Newsletter Editor, Work Day Coordinator and Trip Coordinator, plus working on a variety of special projects. Don brought boundless energy and a unique sense of humor to the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter and he left an impression on almost everyone he contacted.
Don really enjoyed helping others learn and enjoy the sport of fly fishing, both for its own enjoyment and as a way to “hook”them on the importance of conservation. The photo below is from 2003, shortly after Don became involved with the Upper Chattahoochee Chapter, as he is helping a young girl learn the basics of fly casting.
